Mule: A new screenprint by Michael Kirkman
He's quite an innovative chap, this Michael. Aged only 22, he is constantly pushing the boundaries with his printmaking and painting projects.
A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and now taking an MA at the Royal College of Art, Michael is a young painter and printmaker who should be taken very seriously indeed. Of his new body of work, 'Working Men's Wine Bar', produced in an edition of only eight, is a highly complex linocut, using no fewer than ten colours, 'Borough Market', was the first of his series of London markets, produced in an edition of 30 and has now sold out and 'Monmouth', his latest print, is a view of the coffee bar, opposite Borough Market. 'Monmouth' has been produced in an edition of 24 and has also very nearly sold out. 'Mule' is his new screenprint, which has been produced in an edition of only 18.
