The best-written play in London.’ The dustwrapper portrait is by Angus McBean of Sir Alec Guinness as Ross and he starred in the original West End production in 1960. Guinness would later comment on how much he hated the photograph. This copy is signed and inscribed: ‘With great appreciation of your care and kindness during A Family and a Fortune, Alec Guinness, April, 1978’. Neat inscription dated 1960 to the front blank endpaper else a very near fine, tight, clean copy in near fine, very slightly rubbed, price-clipped dustwrapper. Scarce signed by Alec Guinness and a very nice copy indeed.
