Sheet size: 66.1cm x 52.3cm with good, wide margins to the printed image. Date: circa 1827. Printed on Whatman paper with watermark for 1827. Original etching with early or original hand-colouring. Short repaired closed tear to lower margin, not affecting plate impression mark or image. Very minor marks to the plate surface. Very minor creasing. In very good indeed condition overall with bright hand-colouring. Prideaux John Selby, known as the English Audubon, was born in 1788 and died in 1867. He produced these magnificent illustrations of British ornithology from specimens in his own collection. They were the first life-sized set of illustrations of British birds and are now scarce.
