Sheet size: 66.1cm x 52.3cm with good, wide margins to the printed image. Date: circa 1829. Printed on Whatman paper with watermark for 1829. Original etching with early or original hand-colouring. Very minor marks to the plate surface. Very minor creasing. Repaired closed tear to the left hand side which does extend to the image. In good condition overall with bright hand-colouring. Prideaux John Selby, known as the English Audubon, was born in 1788 and died in 1867. He produced these magnificent illustrations of British ornithology from specimens in his own collection. They were the first life-sized set of illustrations of British birds and are now scarce.
