This Merrythought Cheeky Bear is a classic example of the company’s playful and highly recognisable Cheeky design, enhanced with bright, cheerful detailing.

Materials and Craftsmanship

Made from blond mohair, the bear has a warm, honey-toned appearance with a soft, slightly lustrous finish typical of quality mohair pile. The colour gives the bear a sunny, lively look, making it stand out among both modern and vintage Cheeky editions. As with all Cheeky bears, the head is distinctly rounded with large, circular ears, and in this version each ear contains a tiny bell. The bells give a gentle jingle when the bear is moved, adding a whimsical charm that has long been associated with this line. The face is finished with Merrythought’s traditional hand-stitched nose and mouth on his felt muzzle, and fitted with bright, expressive eyes that contribute to a friendly, animated expression.

Around the bear’s neck is a red and yellow ribbon, typically tied in a neat bow. The choice of colours gives a bold splash of contrast against the blond fur, creating a lively visual accent. The bear is fully jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips, allowing it to be posed seated or standing. The limbs are slightly curved in the usual Cheeky style, with paw pads crafted in a soft felt which are neatly shaped and include hand stitched claws for added definition. A woven Merrythought label can be found on the foot, confirming its manufacture in Ironbridge, Shropshire, and a further tag, a side-seam label states its place in the limited edition of 500.
