The foreground is arranged as a patchwork of cultivated land, with each field distinguished by its own hand-drawn pattern. Dots, flowing lines, short strokes, curves and geometric marks suggest ploughed earth, planted crops, hedgerows and changing contours. These densely worked foreground sections lead towards broad hills and layered mountain ranges, creating a convincing sense of depth within the stylised composition.

Small groups of trees punctuate the landscape, while isolated specimens appear across the fields and ridgelines. Their simplified forms complement the expressive linework of the surrounding terrain and contribute to the lampshade’s distinctive illustrative character.
