Complete set. This Ark and figures are in fine condition with all their original Steiff boxes and certificates.  The main box has some signs of wear but is in very good condition overall.  The jointed figures have tight joints allowing for them to be poseable. All the figures are in very fine condition.  The Ark has a door which opens by turning the handle on the door.  Please contact us for more details if required.

Noah’s Ark: A Brief Description

The Steiff Noah’s Ark is a masterwork of German craftsmanship, serving as the cornerstone of a prestigious four-part series released between 2017 and 2018. It features a 60 cm vessel meticulously constructed from native pine wood. The wood is stained and elaborately finished to achieve a sophisticated “used look,” evoking the weathered character of a historic seafaring vessel. Adorned with a gold-coloured Steiff button on the hull, the Ark is designed with a side-opening mechanism allowing collectors to display the internal cabins and the boarding process with ease.

There are 4 Sets to this Edition.  Set 1 (2017) comprises of the Ark, Noah and his wife and the elephants; Set 2 (2017) the giraffes and zebras; Set 3 (2018) the tigers and gorillas; Set 4 (2018) the crocodiles, lioness and lion, dromedaries and pigeons.

Materials and Craftsmanship

The figures are meticulously crafted from high-quality mohair and stuffed with 100% polyester.  They all have black safety eyes providing a soulful and traditional expression, and either hand stitched noses or airbrushed/printed features. Noah, his wife and the gorillas are fully jointed, allowing for subtle changes in expression and posture.  Noah wears a cotton coat with satin trim under a felt-like waistcoat, while his wife is dressed in a cotton gown with satin accents and a delicate veil.  These human figures act as the stewards of the collection, bridging the gap between the whimsical world of Steiff and the grand historical narrative of the Ark.

Presentation and Significance

As a strictly limited edition of only 500 pieces worldwide, this set is a high-value item for serious collectors.  Each figure features the white limited edition ear tag and gold-plated “Button in Ear,” (on some of the figures this tag is on the leg) ensuring they share the same unique edition number.  To preserve the set’s “Investment Grade” status, it is essential to keep the native pine and mohair figures away from direct sunlight and humidity.  All of the figures are surface washable.  CAUTION!  This product is not a toy and is intended for adult collectors only.
