Published by Smith Elder & Co, London, UK, 1900. 1st edition. Original cloth gilt. Size: 14.5cm x 21.2cm. Pp. 552 + ads. With 5 maps. Completed when the British thought that the war had ended but it would not be over until 1902 by which time it had been constantly revised by the author. Binding very nice and tight and hinges firm without any of the usual cracking. Minor sunning to the spine cloth and minor marks to the front and rear boards but with only very minor creasing and rubbing and without any fraying to the cloth. Pages and maps very nice and clean. A very good indeed to near fine copy. Very scarce in this condition.
