Description: This fine map, “The Race Courses Of Great Britain And Ireland: Cork Park,” published by The Hannibal Press in 2022, captures the rich history and unique layout of the Cork Park racecourse. It has been edited and re-coloured after the original lithographed map by F. H. Bayles. Printed on high-quality 310gsm Canson Edition Etching paper, this limited edition map (only 95 copies, each numbered in pencil) features the blind-embossed stamp of The Hannibal Press.

Historical Context: The first racing meeting took place at Cork Park in 1869. It was of little attraction to the English stables but was handsomely supported by Irish bloodstock with higher monetary inducements than any of the minor English racing meetings ta the time. With a flat course and a steeple chase course, The Shandon Plate alone had a purse of £850 in 1902. The course was 1 mile 3 furlongs round with no gradients of note. The heavy boulder clay made going very heavy in wet weather. The last meeting took place in April 1917 and the site would become the Ford Industrial Estate.
