Product Description
Mochica Vase – 46006 – Tintin Museum Collection Resin Model – Le Musée Imaginaire de Tintin – Limited Edition – 2018
A highly detailed limited-edition resin sculpture depicting the famous Mochica Vase, one of the most intriguing artefacts featured in Hergé’s The Adventures of Tintin. Produced by Moulinsart in 2018 as part of the prestigious Le Musée Imaginaire de Tintin collection, this officially licensed collector’s piece faithfully recreates an object inspired by the pre-Columbian civilisations that fascinated Hergé and influenced several of his most celebrated adventures.
The Mochica Vase is closely associated with The Broken Ear (L’Oreille Cassée), one of the earliest Tintin adventures to explore themes of archaeology, museums, South American cultures and the international trade in rare artefacts. Throughout the Tintin series, Hergé frequently incorporated objects inspired by real historical and ethnographic collections, adding an unusual degree of authenticity and cultural depth to his storytelling.
This striking sculpture reproduces the distinctive anthropomorphic vessel in the form of a stylised human head, drawing inspiration from ancient Moche (Mochica) ceramic portrait vessels of Peru. The original artefacts, celebrated for their remarkable craftsmanship and expressive features, are among the most important surviving works of pre-Columbian South American art.
Expertly cast in resin and hand-painted in polychrome colours, the sculpture captures the characteristic form, decorative detailing and visual impact of the object as interpreted through Hergé’s artwork. Standing approximately 17.5 cm high, it provides an attractive and unusual display piece for collectors of Tintin memorabilia, comic art and museum-inspired objects.
Presented in its original Le Musée Imaginaire de Tintin packaging and accompanied by its numbered certificate of authenticity, this example remains in new condition.
The Le Musée Imaginaire de Tintin collection celebrates the most significant characters, vehicles and artefacts from Hergé’s work through museum-quality reproductions intended for serious collectors. As one of the more unusual and culturally significant objects represented within the series, the Mochica Vase offers a fascinating connection between the world of Tintin and the wider history of archaeology and ethnographic collecting.
