A large and handsome Steiff Ferdinand Teddy Bear, EAN 036941, made in Germany in 2011 as a limited edition of 1,000 pieces. This example is numbered 256/1000 and retains its original Steiff white ear tag, chest button, certificate and original box.

Ferdinand is a substantial 62 cm collector’s bear, made in light brown mohair with a warm, traditional expression, black stitched nose, glass-like eyes, beige felt paw pads and fully jointed limbs. He has the classic Steiff collector’s presence: large scale, traditional sitting posture, broad head, curly mohair pile and a working growler. The certificate describes him as a limited edition Steiff product and confirms the EAN, size, date, materials and limitation.

This is a particularly appealing modern Steiff limited edition: large enough to display very well, but still recognisably traditional in form. The bear has strong crossover appeal for Steiff collectors, teddy bear collectors and buyers looking for a large, high-quality display bear with original paperwork.

Condition

Very good to excellent collector’s condition. The bear presents very well, with clean light brown mohair, good colour, original Steiff ear button and white label, original chest tag and certificate. The growler is working. The paw pads are clean overall, with only very light handling/storage marks visible on close inspection. Supplied with original Steiff box and certificate.
