A boxed Steiff King Charles III “Long to Reign Over Us” musical teddy bear, reference 691515, made in 2023 as a UK exclusive limited edition of 2,022 pieces. This example is numbered 88 / 2022 and is accompanied by its original Steiff box and certificate.

The bear measures 31 cm and is made in grey RMS-certified mohair, with black eyes, a black stitched nose and mouth, grey felt paw pads and a fully jointed body. He wears a dark regal robe with faux-ermine trim, gold-tone fastening and royal detailing. One foot pad is embroidered with the King’s cypher, while the other is embroidered with musical notation, reflecting the internal musical mechanism which plays “God Save the King.”

Issued to mark the accession of King Charles III, this is one of Steiff’s more topical modern royal commemorative bears. The certificate notes the King’s accession following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and presents the bear as a celebration of a new Sovereign. The low edition number, original box, certificate, musical mechanism and strong royal subject matter give this example particular collector appeal.

Condition: Excellent condition overall. The grey mohair is clean and well presented, with no obvious wear. The robe, faux-ermine trim, embroidered paw pads, Steiff button, ear tag and swing tags are all present. The musical mechanism is working and plays “God Save the King.” The original box and certificate are included. The box shows only light handling and storage wear consistent with age.
