Product Description

Original four page sales brochure, compliments slip and price list for the DB4GT. Size: 30.5cm x 22.8cm with price list and compliments slip loosely inserted. Illustrated in black and white. Includes technical data. Whilst the brochure and the compliments slip are undated, the date of 19th October, 1959, on the price list is highly significant. This was produced to go alongside the brochure for the British International Motor Show at London’s Earl’s Court which ran from the 21st to the 31st October where Aston Martin would unveil the exciting new development of the DB4. The price list is type-written, rather than printed, as Aston Martin had not yet printed out an official retail price list for the DB4GT. The DB4GT was the competition variant of the DB4. With a shorter chassis, faired-in headlamps and an uprated engine with 3 Weber carburettors, DB4GT was designed to be equally at home on road and track. The DB4GT (along with the DB4GT Zagato) remain two of the most valuable and collectable cars in Aston Martin’s history being popular with Aston Martin owners and enthusiasts alike. With a combined volume of just 100 examples in total, these cars have fetched over £1m at auction. As pre-cursors to perhaps the most famous Aston Martin, DB5, these cars played a crucial role in defining some of the iconic design cues still used in by Aston Martin today. Very slightly rubbed to the spine but in fine, bright, clean condition. An excellent copy. The letterhead and exceptionally rare price list are slightly creased and with fold-lines but are in very good indeed, bright, clean condition. Highly important pieces of Aston Martin ephemera.
