Featuring an original screen-print on parchment, the design presents a continuous woodland composition populated by stylised game birds, smaller songbirds, nests, eggs, branches and scattered leaves.

The larger birds are shown standing among slender tree trunks and arching branches, each distinguished by individually patterned wings, bodies and tail feathers. Their elongated forms and finely worked plumage give the design an elegant, illustrative quality. Smaller birds perch among the branches above, introducing variation in scale and adding movement to the scene.

Birds’ nests appear throughout the lower sections of the composition, several containing carefully drawn eggs.
