Steiff – EAN 655203 – Teddy Bear Robin Hood – 1996 – Limited Edition

A boxed Steiff Teddy Bear Robin Hood, reference 655203, produced in 1996 as a limited edition of 1,500 pieces for the German department stores Karstadt and Hertie. This example is numbered 01090 and is accompanied by its original certificate and presentation box.

The bear measures 45 cm and is made in blond mohair, dressed as Robin Hood in a dark green felt costume with lighter green trim, matching cap, belt, quiver, arrows and bow. He retains his Steiff button, ear tag, chest badge and original certificate. Particularly unusually, this example appears never to have been removed from its box and remains fixed in place with the original cable ties.

This is a highly decorative 1990s Steiff limited edition, combining traditional mohair teddy bear construction with strong storybook and folk-hero appeal. The complete boxed presentation, certificate, working growler and untouched boxed condition make it a particularly attractive collector’s example.

Condition

Excellent unused condition overall. The bear has not been removed from the box and remains attached with its original cable ties. The mohair is clean and well presented, and the costume, bow, quiver and arrows remain in very good order. The Steiff button, ear tag, chest badge and certificate are present. The growler is working. The original box is present and generally very good, with light storage wear, small marks and minor rubbing consistent with age.
