Product Description
Typed letter size: 20cm x 25cm. Date: 4th June, 2004. London to Monte Carlo Rallye (Rally) First Day Cover envelope size: 15.5cm x 9cm. Stamped date 1.2.66. Signed by Moss in 2004. An excellent typed letter in which Moss answers the recipient’s request to sign her First Day Cover. Moss had competed in the rally in 1952, 1953 and 1954 in a Sunbeam-Talbot with his best result being second. He mentions his retirement in 1962 and then refers to the Monaco Grand Prix being 100 laps long and taking nearly 3.5 hours. Moss ranked his victory in the Monaco Grand Prix in 1961 as his greatest Formula 1 drive of all. He then adds that ‘drivers like Michael (Schumacher), Kimi (Raikkonen), Fernando (Alonso) and Jensen (Button) could have coped with out cars although I am inclined to think that many of them might have been nervous’. Each item is signed in pen by Stirling Moss. Fold-line to the centre of the letter else both items are in very near fine condition.
