HERGÉ – THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN

Tintin Moon Rocket Wall Clock – Silver Edition

Horloge Lune Argentée – Limited Edition of 777 – Individually Numbered 453/777

Reference: 82055 Date: 2026

A striking and highly collectable official Tintin limited-edition wall clock, featuring the famous red-and-white chequered Moon rocket from Hergé’s celebrated adventures Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon.

This special silver edition is strictly limited to 777 examples, with the present clock individually numbered 453/777, as confirmed by the original manufacturer’s packaging and certificate.

Measuring 35 cm in diameter, the clock features an elegant, highly polished silver-coloured surround, giving it a distinctive appearance that combines classic Tintin illustration with contemporary decorative design.

Description

The clock has a cream-coloured dial with bold, raised black numerals, contrasting black hands with pale centres and a subsidiary seconds dial positioned at six o’clock. The central illustration depicts the famous Moon rocket ascending diagonally across the dial, complete with its distinctive red fins, red-and-white chequered fuselage and yellow exhaust plume. The design is particularly effective against the restrained cream background, while the polished silver-coloured surround provides a sophisticated contrast to the bright colours of the rocket.

The familiar TINTIN name appears beneath the subsidiary seconds dial.

The Tintin Moon Rocket

The red-and-white chequered Moon rocket is one of the most recognisable creations in the history of European comic-strip illustration.

Designed by Hergé (Georges Remi, 1907–1983), the rocket first appeared in the Tintin adventure Destination Moon, originally serialised in Tintin magazine between 1950 and 1952 and published in album form in 1953. The story continued in Explorers on the Moon, published as an album in 1954. These two adventures are particularly remarkable for their imaginative yet carefully researched portrayal of space travel, appearing more than fifteen years before the Apollo 11 Moon landing in July 1969. Hergé and his collaborators paid considerable attention to contemporary scientific developments, including rocket propulsion, weightlessness, spacesuits and the practical difficulties of travelling beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

The rocket’s distinctive red-and-white chequered appearance has subsequently become one of the defining visual symbols of The Adventures of Tintin.

Limited Edition – Number 453 of 777

Unlike the standard red edition, this silver-coloured version was produced in a limited edition of just 777 examples.
