Product Description
Geological Survey of England and Wales / Ordnance Survey – Sheets 9 & 10 – North Wales – 1930 – Folding Map
London: Geological Survey of England and Wales / Edward Stanford Ltd., 1930.
Revised edition. Large folding geological map of North Wales, published in 1930 by the Geological Survey of England and Wales over the Ordnance Survey map of 1908. Solid Edition, Sheets 9 & 10. Edition of 1000 copies. Code: 1000.30. Dissected onto linen by Edward Stanford Ltd. and housed in the original Stanford covers with printed title label.
A particularly striking geological map covering North Wales, including Anglesey, Caernarfonshire, Merionethshire, Denbighshire, Flintshire and adjoining areas. The map combines detailed Ordnance Survey topography with vivid Geological Survey colour, showing roads, settlements, railways, coastlines, mountain districts and geological formations with exceptional clarity.
North Wales is one of Britain’s most geologically significant regions, and this sheet is visually impressive, with complex formations around Snowdonia, Anglesey and the north-western coast rendered in rich colour. The geological key to the right gives the sheet strong scientific and decorative presence.
Sheet size: 75.3 x 49.3 cm.
Condition: Near fine overall. Clean, bright and sound, dissected onto linen as issued, with minimal age toning and light handling wear only. Original Stanford covers very good indeed, with light rubbing and minor wear to the printed label.
