Pale editorial or retouching marks are visible across parts of the image, together with contemporary black border and crop lines.

The printed Associated Press caption beneath the photograph remains substantially complete and legible. The reverse displays light age toning, occasional small marks and minor surface disturbance, together with the faint Shields Gazette Library archive stamp and receiving date of 5 March 1975. The principal image remains clear, strongly contrasted and visually compelling.
